Lamborghini Murci?lago R-GT development programme continues in Italy

Reiter Engineering, the appointed race engineering company for Lamborghini, took the Lamborghini Murci?lago R-GT out on track at Adria Raceway, near Venice in Italy yesterday to continue the development programme for the sports racing car. The team shared the test session with DAMS, a French sportscar racing team, which is racing two new Lamborghini Murci?lago R-GTs for the first time in this weekend?s FIA GT round at Imola, Italy.

Hans Reiter, Reiter Engineering, reviewed the progress of the R-GT saying, ?We used the session today to test a number of new development parts, concentrating on brakes, power shift, suspension and car set up. We increased our overall performance, which is very pleasing. We were also able to assist DAMS with their test programme.?
The DAMS Team will enter the last four rounds of the FIA GT championship with their two Lamborghini Murci?lago R-GTs. Jean-Denis Deletraz and Andrea Piccini, in the first Murci?lago R-GT, worked on the set up of the car all day. The second car, delivered the day prior to the test was given a shake down with drivers, Felipe Ortiz and Beppe Gabbiani at the wheel, setting up driver positions in the morning and running trouble-free for more than 300 kilometres in the afternoon.
Eric Boullier, Managing and Technical Director, DAMS summed up the day saying, ?We are satisfied with the reliability of the car. The build quality and finish of the car is also excellent. We do not have any reference regarding performance but it looks positive. We are still learning a lot about this car, Reiter did a very good job and our relation with them is excellent. All the team is happy to run these two Murci?lago R-GTs and we are highly motivated to bring them to the top.?
The Lamborghini Murci?lago R-GT is now competing in the American Le Mans Series in the USA with Krohn-Barbour Racing; in the Japanese GT Championship in Asia with the JLOC and Amprex Motorsport teams; and in the FIA GT Championship with DAMS Racing. Cars will be out on track this weekend at Twin-Ring Motegi and Imola.
